Turkey Vultures A Closeup View (WARNING GRAPHIC NATURE PHOTOS)

WARNING GRAPHIC NATURE PHOTOS AHEAD, VERY GROSS

Our area has 3 large birds, 2 species we see in the air, 1 stays on the ground most the time.  Of course, the one that stays on the ground is the turkey.  The big ones we see in the air are bald eagles, and the featured one here, turkey vultures.  The turkey vultures are part of natures clean up crew, along with many insects, they eat “dead stuff”.  And that’s just what they are doing here, cleaning up a woodchuck that didn’t look both ways before crossing the road.  Please look beyond the guts and look at the details in the structures and details in their head.  They have a see-through “nose” area!

They squabble amongst each other too as seen in the pics.

I hope you “enjoy” the photos.
