Plainfield, IL., August 7, 2018 – SPEC Engineering, a process engineering and systems provider in the food and specialty chemical industry, recently hosted the inaugural Junior Engineers Summer Camp. Third through eighth graders joined the engineers to learn how everyday concepts utilize engineering skills.
Main topics of the Junior Engineers Summer Camp included:
• Chemical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
Sample activities included creating a robot scribbler, tie dying, watching a contained explosion, learning about safety, utilizing Virtual Reality to understand plant design, and measuring the flow of different items.
SPEC Engineering strives to give back to the local community. The goal of this program was to provide a space for the
children to learn and grow in the field of Engineering. Through their experiences at camp, the children gained a different perspective of how things work and the design behind simple systems.
