Oswego Fire Protection District Announces: 2019 Scholarship Application Period is Open




(Oswego■ II) Each year the Oswego Fire Protection bistrict awards two $500 scholarships. The application period is now open and applications are due no later than April 30, 2019 at 3:00 pm. Two outstanding seniors will be chosen to receive a $500.00 scholarship to be used at an institution of higher learning. The OFPD scholarships are given in honor of a member of our District that has shown exemplary service to the people of the community we serve. This year, former Fire Chief John Moyer is being honored. He dedicated his life to serving the people of our District in many capacities. He started his career in 1956 and served as a volunteer firefighter until 1988, then promoted to Fire Chief, which he served from 1988 to 1992. Chief Moyer exemplified what it means to be a firefighter. He truly dedicated his life to his community and the Fire District, until this death in April 2012. The OFFD would like to honor Retired Fire Chief John Moyer by awarding $500.00 scholarships to two graduates that will be pursuing a degree in the fall of 2019.
